Your First Visit
Your first appointment at Doyle Orthodontics is a consultation — a chance for our doctors to get a complete picture of where things stand and for you to get a clear, honest sense of what treatment would look like and why. It is not a high-pressure sales appointment. You will not leave feeling like you need to make a decision on the spot.
When you arrive, our team will take you through a thorough diagnostic workup. This includes CBCT imaging — the three-dimensional scan we use for every new patient, not just complex cases — along with digital photographs and a detailed clinical examination by one of our doctors. For most practices, this level of diagnostic depth is reserved for patients with complicated presentations. At Doyle Orthodontics, it is how we start with everyone, because we believe that a treatment plan is only as good as the information it’s built on.
After the records are gathered, your doctor will sit down with you to go through the findings. We’ll explain what we see, walk through the treatment options that make sense for your case, and give you a realistic picture of what treatment would involve — how long, what approach, and what outcome you can expect. If you have questions, we want to hear them. If something isn’t clear, ask us to explain it differently. The goal of this appointment is for you to leave with a genuine understanding of your situation, not a folder full of information you’ll have to sort through later at home.
For parents bringing a child in for an initial evaluation, we’ll take the time to make the visit comfortable for your child — especially if this is their first experience in an orthodontic office. We’ll involve them in the conversation in an age-appropriate way and make sure both of you understand the findings and any recommendations before you leave.
To schedule at any of our three locations — Washington, Pleasant Hills, or Mt. Lebanon — contact our team, and we will find a time that works for your schedule.
Financial Info
Doyle Orthodontics is a fee-for-service practice. We are not contracted with any insurance networks, which means we are not bound by the limitations, treatment restrictions, or fee schedules that in-network agreements often impose. Our doctors make clinical recommendations based solely on what is right for each patient — not on what an insurance contract permits or reimburses.
That said, we understand that insurance is a meaningful part of how most families plan for healthcare costs, and we do everything we can to help you make the most of whatever out-of-network benefits your plan includes. Our team will review your insurance coverage before treatment begins, provide the documentation needed to submit claims on your behalf, and help you understand what reimbursement you can realistically expect from your carrier. Many patients with out-of-network orthodontic benefits receive meaningful reimbursement — the process simply requires a little more coordination, and we handle that coordination for you.
For the portion of treatment fees not covered by insurance, we offer in-house payment plans with no interest. These are structured individually — not a fixed schedule applied to every patient — because treatment length, case complexity, and financial circumstances vary, and a payment plan should reflect the actual situation rather than a one-size-fits-all formula. We’ll discuss the options with you before treatment begins and work toward an arrangement that is manageable.
We also accept CareCredit, a third-party healthcare financing option that allows patients to spread treatment costs over an extended period with a range of plan options. If CareCredit is the right fit for your situation, our team can help you get started with the application process.
The cost of treatment is always discussed in full at or before the start of care. There are no surprises in what you owe or when. If you have questions about fees, insurance, or payment options before or after your consultation, our team is straightforward to reach and happy to walk through the details with you.
